Purple/Pink

Pink and purple do offer an obvious image of femininity, class and elegance, though there is much more to these two colours than being the decoration at a child's birthday party.

Indeed, purple has been historically prized as a colour of sophistication, superiority and, in many classical civilizations, royalty and the ruling class. This stems from its historical pedigree as a difficult dye to gather and manufacture into material. Whilst it is of course available freely today, it still maintains a reputation as a colour that, especially when it comes to curtains, presents an image of the passion and wisdom of nobility.

Pink offers a traditional femininity, but also a neutrality, which can often be undervalued in many homes. It seamlessly integrates beauty with glamour and a sense of calm that pervades throughout a room. It's hard to be stressed in a room that is styled in varying, textured tones of pink and purple. In fact, it's more likely to induce a sense of relaxation and calm - the feeling that everything will be alright and tomorrow is another day.

Both are perfect colours to come home to - so particularly suit living rooms and other relaxing areas. As such, we'd recommend to buyers to seriously consider a pink for a neutrally coloured and decorated main living space and perhaps a shade or two of purple in a room which is a little more rarefied - a dining room or other place of relative quiet and luxury. As a pair, they can improve the feel and atmosphere of any home by a significant degree.
